With a focus on form, we’ll take inspiration from O’Keeffe’s bold and fluid approach to abstraction, using her iconic flower paintings as a starting point for our own creative interpretations. The day will begin with a short introduction to O’Keeffe’s life and work, before moving into a series of playful and experimental drawing activities designed to help you explore line, form, and composition.
Building on these drawings, you’ll then move on to create your own acrylic painting inspired by O’Keeffe’s distinctive style. Throughout the workshop, you’ll be guided through techniques in composition, colour mixing, and application, helping you to develop confidence and find freedom in working abstractly.
This workshop is suitable for beginners and improvers alike, join me for an inspiring day celebrating colour, movement, and form. Discover new ways of seeing and painting as you create your own Georgia O’Keeffe-inspired abstract artwork in a relaxed and supportive setting.
Focus on Form: Explore how O’Keeffe transformed natural forms into bold, flowing abstractions.
Experimental Drawing: Take part in guided drawing exercises that encourage exploration and creative expression.
Acrylic Basics: Beginners will gain a solid foundation in acrylic painting techniques, including colour mixing, brushwork, and surface preparation.
Hands-on Guidance: Receive step-by-step instruction and personalised guidance throughout the workshop.
All Materials Provided: Everything you need is included—just bring yourself and lots of enthusiasm.

Suitable for ages 16+
Refreshments will be available throughout the day but lunch is not provided. There is a cafe on site, and The Drum pub is within a short walk from the studio, or feel free to bring a packed lunch.
No experience necessary. This workshop is perfect for beginners.
Please bring old clothes or an apron - painting can get messy!
Long stay parking is available a short walk from the studio (Craft Centre Car Park: Open 7am – 7pm, parking charges apply)

Textiles Illustration

Textiles is a versatile medium, great for creating artwork as well as embellishing home furnishings and clothing. In this workshop you will learn to use appliqué, basic embroidery stitches and beading to create your own decorative fabric cupcake illustration.

Pointillism in Acrylics

Pointillism is defined by its use of mark making and colour. Pointillism paintings are created from hundreds of dots of carefully placed pure colours, relying on the eye to mix the colours to achieve maximum luminosity, in a similar way to pixels on a screen.
Learn how to use reds, blues and yellows to create the whole spectrum of colours. In this workshop we will look at basic colour theory, pigment strength and colour mixing before going on to create a colourful acrylic painting to take away with you.

Get started with Oil Paints

Starting out with Oils can be a daunting prospect, but with just a few basics you can unlock the potential of this rich and exciting medium.
In this beginners workshop we will be getting to grips with oil painting. You will gain understanding of the paints, learn about colour mixing and basic application techniques, and receive step-by-step guidance in creating your own still life painting.

Mastering Reflections | Large Scale Charcoal Drawing

In this workshop we will be getting messy with large-scale charcoal drawings.
Working at A1 in scale we will be looking at reflection and the refraction of light on glass as well studying the way in which glass objects interact with positive and negative space.
