This course is perfect for beginners with little to no experience in watercolour painting. Whether you're an absolute novice or have dabbled in art before, this course will provide you with a strong foundation to create stunning watercolour artworks.

Understanding Paper: Delve into the nuances of different paper types, understanding how they affect your artwork.
Mastering Washes: Learn the art of creating seamless washes, mastering the techniques to achieve depth and luminosity in your paintings.
Creative Exploration: Unleash your creativity as you experiment with various wash techniques and styles.
All materials provided
Suitable for ages 16+
Refreshments will be available throughout the afternoon but lunch is not provided.
No experience necessary. This workshop is perfect for beginners.
Please bring old clothes or an apron - painting can get messy!
Long stay parking is available a short walk from the studio (Craft Centre Car Park: Open 7am – 7pm, parking charges apply, please bring cash)
Cancellation Policy: Payments are not refundable but are transferable. Please give 2 weeks notice if you wish to transfer to a different date. I will always try my hardest to honour a workshop, but if for any reason the workshop has to be postponed (i.e. a global pandemic!), you will be offered the option of a full refund.

Textiles Illustration

Textiles is a versatile medium, great for creating artwork as well as embellishing home furnishings and clothing. In this workshop you will learn to use appliqué, basic embroidery stitches and beading to create your own decorative fabric cupcake illustration.

Pointillism in Acrylics

Pointillism is defined by its use of mark making and colour. Pointillism paintings are created from hundreds of dots of carefully placed pure colours, relying on the eye to mix the colours to achieve maximum luminosity, in a similar way to pixels on a screen.
Learn how to use reds, blues and yellows to create the whole spectrum of colours. In this workshop we will look at basic colour theory, pigment strength and colour mixing before going on to create a colourful acrylic painting to take away with you.

Get started with Oil Paints

Starting out with Oils can be a daunting prospect, but with just a few basics you can unlock the potential of this rich and exciting medium.
In this beginners workshop we will be getting to grips with oil painting. You will gain understanding of the paints, learn about colour mixing and basic application techniques, and receive step-by-step guidance in creating your own still life painting.

Mastering Reflections | Large Scale Charcoal Drawing

In this workshop we will be getting messy with large-scale charcoal drawings.
Working at A1 in scale we will be looking at reflection and the refraction of light on glass as well studying the way in which glass objects interact with positive and negative space.
